Chemotherapy (Systemic Therapy)
Questions to Ask
What questions should I ask my health care team?
Since chemotherapy treatment is very specific to each person, you may want to ask your health care team at the Cancer Centre the following questions along with a list of your own:
- Are there any side effects that I should report right away?
- If I have side effects, will my chemotherapy treatments be stopped or delayed?
- Which physician should I contact if I have a question or health concern other than those related to my treatment?
- I take medicine, vitamin and/or herbal supplements regularly for other health reasons. Will I be able to keep taking these during chemotherapy?
- Will chemotherapy affect my sex life and/or ability to have children after my treatment?
- Should I avoid other people and pets during chemotherapy?
Other questions you may want to ask can be found in the booklet by the
Canadian Cancer Society called "Chemotherapy: A guide for people with cancer"
which you will receive at your initial consultation. To review the booklet
