Inpatient Oncology Unit

Patients sometimes need to be admitted to the Inpatient Oncology Unit at the hospital for their treatment or because of the side effects related to the treatment. The length of stay will depend on the needs of each patient.

The Inpatient Oncology Unit is currently located on the 8th level, AB wing, at the K-W Health Care Centre at Grand River Hospital. To get to 8AB, enter from the main entrance of the hospital and take the elevators directly behind the Information Desk. The Information Desk is across from Tim Horton’s on the 3rd level (main entrance level).

Visiting hours on 8AB are between the hours of 1:30pm and 8:30pm every day. However, if there are special requests, please speak to one of the nurses on 8AB. Visitors are limited to no more than two people at one time. Anyone feeling unwell or who are experiencing cold or flu symptoms cannot visit on the floor. Flowers, perfumes, balloons and pets are not allowed on this floor because many patients may be susceptible to infections.

The Clinical Director for the Inpatient Oncology Unit is Mrs. Laurie Barnhardt and she can be reached at 519-749-4300 ext.5734.
