Supporting the Marsland Hydrotherapy Pool

Grand River Hospital’s Freeport Campus has a long and fascinating history and we are delighted to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2016. Beginning as a sanatorium for the Canadian military the campus now provides rehabilitation beds for stroke, general rehab, complex medical, palliative, long term ventilation, restorative care, neuro-rehabilitative, geriatric assessment and specialized mental health. There are outpatient clinics serving rehabilitative care, memory assessment, pulmonary care and specialized geriatric patients. There is also a satellite dialysis unit and the Waterloo Wellington Breast Centre. It’s a busy place providing amazing care to our community!

One way you can be a part of the important milestone this year is to celebrate the roaring 1920s with us at The Grand Experience and help support Freeport Campus. Proceeds from the event will help bring the therapeutic pool back into service. A redeveloped pool will benefit many patient groups including those with chronic obstructive pulmonary (lung) disease, severe arthritis, traumatic brain injury, stroke, or spinal cord injury. As well, patients with complex muscle and bone conditions will benefit, including those who have had surgery for complex fractures, multiple traumas, or amputees. With the community’s generous support to initiatives at Freeport Campus like the hydrotherapy pool, Grand River Hospital will become a centre of excellence in rehabilitative care.
