Steve Currie is the Chair of the Board of Governors and has been a member since 2012. Steve is the Chief Marketing Officer at Communitech. He has more than 20 years of experience in technology and marketing.

Steve has held senior marketing and business development roles in multinationals such as Reynolds & Reynolds and Open Text, and start ups and emerging companies such as Miovision, Northern Digital Inc. and Handshake VR. Steve takes an active role in the community and is also a board member of Waterloo Region Family Network.

Seth Jutzi joined the Board of Governors in 2016 and is the Vice Chair. He is the Chair of the Governance Committee. Seth brings a collaborative approach to deconstructing legal and business issues in pursuit of innovative and better business outcomes for his corporate and commercial clients at Sorbara Law.

Seth is pleased to contribute his time, professional expertise, and leadership to charities focused on affordable housing in addition to his role on the Board of Governors.

Jennifer Psutka joined the Board of Governors in 2013 and is the Treasurer as well as the Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee.  Jennifer is a Partner in the Assurance Group at PwC as well as the South Western Ontario Technology Leader. She is also a volunteer board member for local organizations supporting important social services in Waterloo Region.

Jennifer is passionate about working with technology and entertainment companies and is excited to have spent the majority of her professional career serving these businesses at all stages of their life.

Stephen Swatridge is the Interim President and CEO for Grand River Hospital Foundation.

Stephen is respected in the community and has more than 40 years of experience in the not-for-profit field and executive leadership. He was the CEO of KidsAbility Centre for Child Development for 27 years before retiring in 2013 and was interim CEO of Carizon Family and Community Services and the Kitchener-Waterloo Community Foundation.

Kenda Allen joined the Board of Governors in 2018 and is the Chair of the Mindful Mornings Committee. Kenda is Vice President Commercial Banking South Central Ontario for TD Bank covering the Waterloo Region as well as the Guelph and Stratford markets. She brings over 30 years of management and financial experience having held various positions in commercial banking throughout Ontario and in the lower mainland of BC.

Kenda has volunteered her time with a number of organizations and held board positions including Chamber of Commerce, Restorative Justice, Rotary, and amateur sports, in the cities where she has lived.  She believes in sharing her knowledge to support organizations in her community.

Linda Barlow joined the Board of Governors in 2015 and is a member of the Governance Committee. Linda stepped down from her role as Vice-President, Human Resources in March 2018 when she retired from Flanagan Foodservice, Canada’s largest independent foodservice distributor.

As a Certified Human Resources Leader and accomplished global HR executive with more than 30 years experience, Linda has built many high performing human resources teams while successfully delivering HR programs and services that support ever changing organizational needs.

Mark Bingeman joined the Board of Governors in 2016. He is the Chair of the Special Events and The Grand Golf Committees. After holding a variety of managerial positions with both Marriott and Hyatt Hotel Corporations throughout the United States, Mark returned home in 1994 and joined the family firm, Bingemans Inc. In 2004, Mark assumed the helm of Bingemans Inc. and has continually maintained an active hands-on approach to the business.

Mark has served in other community organizations including: Kitchener Conestoga Rotary Club, Member, Young Presidents Organization, Chapter Chair, Canada Regional Council, Member, and the City of Kitchener Economic Development Committee.

Bruce Brown joined the Board of Governors in 2018 and is a member of the Marketing and Communications Committee.  He has more than 25 years of experience in brand development and marketing with medical and hardware technology companies. From 2001 to 2017 Bruce was the Vice President of Global Marketing at Unitron, a Kitchener-based company and a leader in the global hearing instrument industry. He now works independently assisting local companies with marketing  and branding strategy, as well as contributing his time assisting non-profit organizations.

Tobi Day-Hamilton joined the Board of Governors in 2018 and is a member of the Marketing and Communications Committee. She is a passionate advocate for education and engagement. In her role as Director Strategic Initiatives at the University of Waterloo, Tobi leads strategic planning and implementation for Waterloo’s research and innovation endeavours. She is also co-founder and Executive Director of LAUNCH Waterloo, an organization dedicated to inspiring young people to explore STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math).

Tobi participated in the 2012 Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference (GGCLC), served as the GGCLC Southwestern Ontario Regional Chair in 2017 and will do so again in 2020. She holds degrees from the University of Waterloo and McMaster University, is a self-proclaimed geek and an avid adventure seeker.

Jonathan Dunlop joined the Board in 2017. He is a corporate/technology lawyer currently serving as senior counsel and privacy officer at Vidyard. He has a background in corporate law, general litigation and accounting.

Jonathan is passionate and actively involved in the tech space in Waterloo Region and the revitalization of downtown Kitchener. He lives in Victoria Park with his wife Melanie and their young family.

Ron Gagnon has been the president and CEO of Grand River Hospital since November 2018. He brings over 20 years of executive and health care leadership to Waterloo Region. Ron has been involved with helping shape health care at the provincial level and continues to do so.

Jack joined the Board in 2017 and brings more than 40 years of knowledge and experience in marketing, sales, and executive leadership in the insurance industry. Jack has a track record of building and transforming career sales forces that increase productivity. He led the largest and most productive careers sales force in Canada with Sun Life Financial.

Jack has been an engaged volunteer sharing his time and expertise over the years with several community and health care non-profit organizations in Canada including The Canadian Diabetes Association, Research Ethics Board of University of Waterloo, Junior Achievement, and Serenity Renewal for Families, YMCA and Women’s Employment Counseling Services.

Jeff Horst joined the Board of Governors in 2015 and is the Chair of the Marketing and Communications Committee. He is Co-Founder and Business Development Manager at Echosims Inc., where his team combines strategy management, website development and creative advertising campaigns to deliver marketing value for clients. At Echosims Inc., Jeff works to understand individual business needs and develops realistic, working strategies for sustainable growth.

As an active member of the community, Jeff is involved with many charity events including the Family. Hockey. Food event in support of The Waterloo Region Food Bank, Ignite Charity and Rock the Bear. He also created 29Leaps, using social media to inspire people to put others first.

Sandra Stone joined the Board in 2017 and is the Chair of the Stewardship and Donor Recognition Committee. She recently retired from General Manager of Conestoga Mall where she led the management team through a significant period of expansion, renovation and remerchandising. She brings over 30 years of management and marketing experience from serving in various positions in the commercial real estate industry across the country and holds three professional designations from the International Council of Shopping Centres and on the faculty of ICSC’s school of retail real estate management.

Sandra also volunteers on the Greater Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce Women’s Leadership Committee. Her past community involvement includes the City of Waterloo’s Economic Development Advisory Committee, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Greater Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce and their Regional and Municipal Affairs Committee, K-W Oktoberfest’s Advisory Council, as well as support of several fundraising events.

Bobby Thompson joined the Board of Governors in 2019. He is a Senior Manager in the Assurance practice at EY, focused on providing audit and advisory services to Canadian and global financial institutions. He holds the professional designations of Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst.

Bobby is proud to be a part of the community and giving back to the hospital. Prior to joining the Board he was President of the Board of Directors for the Grand River Hospital Volunteer Association. During that time, the Volunteer Association doubled its annual donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation as well as expanded its operations through the opening of the Tim Hortons in the Freeport Campus.
