NHL players meet patients in their hometown hospital

It was a special day for patients and families when they got to meet a group of hockey superstars. Mike Hoffman of the Florida Panthers, Michael Latta of the New Jersey Devils and Logan Stanley of the Winnipeg Jets visited Grand River Hospital during their off season to tour the hospital and meet with some of the younger patients and their families.

For kids like Matthew, it will be a memory they will cherish forever, “It was amazing to see them,” he said.

The visit was part of the KW Alumni Hockey Academy’s activities. The summer hockey camp raises money for a local charity, and this year the group supported the children’s program at GRH.

Hoffman, Latta and Stanley are all from the area and were able to quickly connect and share stories with the families and staff they met.

“Growing up in KW and now having a professional hockey career we want to give back, not only on the ice but off the ice as well,” said Mike Hoffman, Florida Panthers player.

Mike plans to match the funds raised by the camp. Thanks Mike, Michaelm, Logan and all the participants in the KW Alumni Hockey Academy camp.
