Our Renal Program is made up of dedicated team members who are committed to our patients and providing an exceptional experience at the Hospital. And, it was their hard work and commitment that recently led the program to receive not one but three Performance Improvement Awards from the Ontario Renal Network earlier this fall.

These awards celebrate that kidney care patients at Grand River Hospital can access home dialysis services more often and are now waiting less time for vascular access procedures (a type of procedure they need to begin dialysis treatments).

Our team was also recognized for talking to patients about what they hope to gain from their care, so they can work towards these goals together. These goals can be anything that is important to the individual, such as reducing their level of pain, being able to travel, attending a wedding or other significant event, and more.

The Ontario Renal Network, part of Ontario Health, connects and coordinates a province-wide network of Regional Renal Programs — the Grand River Hospital Regional Renal Program is one of 26 regional renal programs in Ontario. Our Renal Program provides the full continuum of kidney care services for patients in our region, with our satellite units providing dialysis for patients in Kitchener, Guelph, and Palmerston.
